
JAKARTA – Telkomsel operators are following up on data leakage cases experienced by social media activist Denny Siregar. Telkomsel has also made an official report to the Directorate of Cyber Crime, Bareskrim Polri, after conducting an internal investigation.
“Telkomsel has carried out an investigative process and followed up by submitting an official report to law enforcement officials through the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate on July 8, 2020,” said Senior Vice President Corporate Secretary Telkomsel, Andi Agus Akbar in his official statement, Friday, July 10.

Andi explained, Telkomsel has carried out an internal investigation in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) regarding the alleged data leakage experienced by its customers. On the other hand, Telkomsel will continue to coordinate intensively with law enforcement officials, to help smooth the investigation process.
“We really regret the inconvenience of Brother Denny Siregar as a customer for the complaints submitted regarding the alleged misuse of customer data. In this connection, Telkomsel is committed to giving serious attention to ensuring the handling of these complaints is open and thorough,” he explained.
He added, Telkomsel is committed to always obeying laws and regulations. Moreover, his party always refers to technical and security standards as a commercial telecommunications service provider, in accordance with international standardization agencies (ITU, GSMA) and applicable regulations.

Regarding customer data security, Andi ensures that the company’s operations are running according to the ISO 27001 certification standard that has been pocketed by Telkomsel. “The certification process is periodically carried out by an independent and professional international institution,” he said.
